This plant is sometimes called Asian Marshweed or Ambulia.AppearanceNative to the waterways and marshlands of Southeast Asia, Ambulia has become a very popular bunched plant in the aquarium trade for its delicate lime-green foliage. As they are a marginal aquatic plant, they require good light quality, or they will drop their lower leaves and become “leggy”. The whorls of fine leaves make great protected habitat for fish fry.CareL. sessiliflora is capable of withstanding a wide range of water conditions (pH 5.5-8 and temperature range of 22-28C). Lower lighting and CO2 addition is recommended as this produces more compact growth. However, this plant does not require CO2 addition and will grow at a steady pace even without CO2. This plant does require good amounts of traces, especially iron supplementation, to stay in good health. Higher lighting and ample micronutrient supplementation cause this plant to develop reddish hues on the top. In good growing conditions it sends out runners and spreads across the bottom. A nutrient rich substrate is not necessary when growing this plant, as it is able to derive all needed nutrients from the water column.
