The Story: Following a stretch of hot weather, a storm front approached the Miami Valley. As the sun rose over Morris Reserve, in Greene County, Ohio, the front’s cloud bottoms caught magical light. As the light reflecting off the clouds grew ever more intense, it illuminated the fog rising out of the Little Miami River, giving the scene a secondary glow. The Rest of the Story: I live a couple thousand feet from this park. For me, catching colorful morning sunrise is a challenge as there is a short flash to bang. By the time I start detecting color in the morning sky, its time to go. I keep my camera bag as a go-bag so I’m pretty quick getting out of the house. Still, by the time I park my truck, hike into position, and compose the scene, I’ve got a few seconds to spare before the light begins fading from peak color. On this morning, it all came together! If you’d like to see more of this park, check out my Morris Reserve Art Prints or Morris Reserve Wildflowers. If you like the composition, I have more Ohio Prairie Pathways here.
